Weee Directive

WEEE Background Regulation In the European Union (EU), waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is now subject to regulation designed to prevent disposal of such waste and to encourage prior treatment to minimize the amount of waste ultimately disposed.

In addition, the EU WEEE directive 2002/96/ec requires that producers of electronic equipment be responsible for the collection, reuse, recycling and treatment of WEEE which the producer places on the EU market after 13th August 2005. The WEEE label (crossed out wheelie bin) on the product signifies that the product bearing this label should not be disposed of in a landfill or in household, business or municipal waste in the EU.

Instead the producer is required to make a return and collection system available to you for disposal of these products.

Actia (UK) Ltd., as an electronics producer, endeavours to meet these requirements and its environmental responsibilities for managing WEEE. To comply with the requirements ACTIA will collect, arrange treatment, recovery and disposal of all equipment, covered by this directive, and sold by ACTIA.

Product purchased on or after 13th August 2005

When ACTIA branded electrical and electronic equipment purchased in the EU from Actia (UK) Ltd, on or after 13th August 2005, has reached the end of its useful life. ACTIA will arrange collection and route it to a treatment centre in the UK for recycling to minimise waste being sent to the landfill.

Product purchased before 13th August 2005

The WEEE directive does not compel the producer, to collect older (Historical) WEEE placed on the market before 13th August 2005. However if the old equipment is being replaced with new equipment, then the new equipment producer is responsible for the collection of the old equipment. Actia will comply with this requirement when required.

Please note that the directive does not cover equipment that is installed on another type of equipment (i.e. vehicles) which are outside of the scope of the directive, and as such Actia are not responsible for the recycling of these items.
